Pantone Color of the Year 2017!!

The Pantone Color of the year for 2017 is... Greenery!!!!

Another Nature Inspired Color!!!
See to learn more!

The items I most enjoy making are the ones based on real plants, especially ferns. A great way to add some Color of the year to your decor!

The Pantone color of the year for 2016 was ROSE QUARTZ & SERENITY. This combination of pale pink and light blue are meant when combined to bring a feeling of order and peace.

One will often find these colors in nature, especially in the sea and sky. Many people find inspiration from the beauty of nature. I am also often inspired by these colors in nature when creating glass items. Some of my pieces combine these colors in one piece such as this mosaic cross you can find in my etsy shop. Other pieces include one of these colors.

"Far away on the horizon we could see the great mountains…The sight of these beauties made a deep impression on my thoughts; I felt as if I were already beginning to understand the greatness of God and the wonders of heaven. Words of St. Therese

Quick Easy Tasty Zucchini Lasagne

We looked for ways to use up all the zucchini which is now in full swing in the garden. One way we enjoy using it is by making zucchini lasagne! We make a very quick version with smaller amounts of cheese and meat for both healthy and tasty eating!

Step 1 Cut the zucchini length wise and layer in the bottom of a greased baking dish

Enjoy some wine while prepping! Rose d'cabernet

fresh herbs in background to put on top

spread sauce on zucchini (make your own or use sauce from can/jar)

Add meat (We used italian sausage fried separately with onions and garlic, drained on paper, add a little for some flavor)

Add cheese (part skim mozzarella, again just some for flavor)}

Alternate layers of zucchini, sauce, cheese, and meat to your liking

    • Squash Bugs!! We hear that many people just don't plant zucchini or squash because of squash bugs destroying their crops. We find the best ways to avoid them is to remove the eggs from the underside of leaves with duct tape and to kill adult squash bugs by hand after watering the plants. The adults seem to climb to the tops of leaves (maybe to get dry?) and they are then easy to spot! Here are two articles that may help you. and

    • Brandywine - This is an heirloom tomato. For those that don't know an heirloom means you can save seeds from the fruit and replant next year! This seed is from my Father and have been replanted for over 10 years!

      • This year we buried the tomato plants deeper into the ground (4" up the stem of the seedlings) and believe this helped make the large brandywine below.
